This place is all about the celebration of the Carolina Shag dance. I refer to it as the Mother Church or Mecca of the Carolina Shag, the dance floors are wonderful. There are two, the front and the back, each one has its own DJ at events such as the SOS Spring, Fall, and Mid-Winter gatherings. There are lessons here on the weeknights, so you can learn to dance while you're on vacation! Fun, friendly and welcoming! Just the way we like it!

This is laid back place and if you love some good beach music this is the place. More of an older crowd but this is the place to "cut a rug" to some shag music. If your on vacation with your spouse this is a good place to come and enjoy good music without the wild crowd. There food is a go to on the late nights leaving after a few drinks. Come experience Fat Harolds!

So, believe it or not, I’ve been coming to North Myrtle Beach for 40 years. This trip was the first time I’ve ever been to Fat Harold’s. We had a great time. We didn’t eat there. Just had a couple drinks and danced a bit. If you don’t know how to Shag, come anyway. You’ll still have a great time. Check their Facebook page for lessons. If you just learn a couple basic steps you’ll be able to cleanse and have a good time. This place is very laid back. We’ll be back!

Visiting Fat Harold’s is like entering into a movie about the early 1960s (am thinking of the movie classic “Shag” made in Myrtle Beach). Good old music (not too loud) and plenty of old regulars showing you how to do the famous dance that was born here. Check it out.

This place is the best. My father in law has been coming here since I was born. He passed last year so we celebrated his famous spot in his memorial. The staff was spool nice.

I don't always find a place with the right kind of chemistry... but Fat Harold's has been creating it for decades. The music starts, people smile at complete strangers, and before long the dance floor is full. There's something about this place that makes everyone a little friendlier, a little happier, and a whole lot less interested in checking their phones. Whether you're an experienced shag dancer or just there to soak up the atmosphere, it's almost impossible not to get pulled into the fun. Great music, welcoming people, cold drinks, and an energy that's completely contagious. Some places make introductions. Fat Harold's makes memories. You might walk in with your own group, but don't be surprised if you leave feeling like you've made a few new friends along the way.
